We have seen the future and it is electric, and cool. It’s called the EV- N and is Honda’s newest foray into the field of electric powered automobiles. With minimalist throwback styling, swappable seat fabrics, and the UX-3 – a robotic, gyroscopic, unicycle-installed in the passenger door, the EV-N is a little car making very big waves in the world of personal transportation. And yes, we would so love to have one.   

Now that it’s December and all.

After a long wait, the heralded Finish design brand Marimekko has finally made it to Velocity Art and Design. Known for their multi-colored printed fabrics and simple styles, Marimekko’s bright and warm holiday pieces are a welcome counter to all the grey Seattle weather we have been seeing lately. Not to mention all of the wonderful year-round pieces which really make theirs a collection of design classics. In today’s world of collaborative and team based architecture, it’s become less common for virtuosos to appear. Some have even gone so far as to declare the days of the superstar architect over. With that said it is refreshing to see architects like Marcio Kogan arrive on the scene.

The Brazilian architect and his team have produced what is considered by many to be at the forefront of modern and contemporary design. His work is strong and elegant, and his use of scale and simple form reminiscent of the work of Mies Vander Rohe. His buildings blow us away.
